Rhinoplasty Rhinoplasty is a plastic surgery performed on the human nose, whether for medical (reconstructive) or cosmetic reasons. This is usually performed by either an otolaryngologist-head and neck surgeon, a plastic surgeon, or a maxillofacial (relating to, located in, or affecting the face in the region of the upper jaw) surgeon for reconstruction, reshaping of the nose which may be due to trauma, birth defects or other medical problems affecting the nose, or for cosmetic purposes. This is commonly called "nose reshaping" or "nose job" which is usually combined with other surgical procedures such as face and chin augmentation to achieve the aesthetic appearance desired by the client/patient. This surgery is very popular and the outcome of this procedure creates a great distinction and differences, not just with the physical appearance of a person's face, but likewise creates a tremendous effect on his self-esteem. The aesthetic improvements on a person's nose through this type of surgery may include increasing or decreasing the size of the nose, revising the shape and/or bridge of the nose. Most people opt for this kind of procedure in order to reshape their noses whether for aesthetic sense or any other purpose.
Rhinoplasty cost
There are several factors affecting the cost of rhinoplasty. Certain considerations such as the patient's physiology, medical history and goals should be paramount consideration. Cost of this medical procedure varies dependent on the state or country, that is, a surgery done in Beverly Hills, Miami, New York, or Tokyo are far more expensive than those performed in other smaller cities. Before signing up for the procedure, be aware of what the services include because, in most cases, prices are distinct for every individual procedure and the cost of anesthesia and other incidental fees may not be inclusive of the quoted price. As reported in Rhinoplasty reviews, the average price is $5,798.

Rhinoplasty swelling
Post-surgery indications include swelling of the area depending on the coverage of the surgery. Swelling usually subsides after 4-6 months of operation but might last up to a year before the results of surgery may be noticeably seen.
It is imperative that your surgeon is experienced in nasal surgery in order to avoid or at least lessen the recovery issues or complications. Any concerns about the swelling must be addressed with the surgeon directly during the earliest possible time or should be constantly monitored by the surgeon who conducted the procedure.
Rhinoplasty procedure
Most people are very eager to attain the best results or appearance but are not aware of the procedure of rhinoplasty. It is important that the patient must be well informed and aware as to the effect, whether short or long term basis, of rhinoplasty. Here are the basic procedures that you should expect once you sign up for rhinoplasty.
Anesthesia will surely be administered. The type of anesthesia depends in case-by-case basis, person-to-person, and the complexity of the procedure. This is so because there are persons who are, say for example, exhibit allergic reactions to some types of anesthesia or antibiotics. The nose is anesthesized with local anesthesia either lidocaine or marcaine with epinephrine before any cuts or incisions are made. This is in order to numb the tissue, or the facial bones so that the patient will not feel the surgery. Also, some surgeons may use a diluted form of cocaine possilbly mixed with epinephrine to reduce blood flow to the area and to shrink the mucous membranes inside the nose.
There are two basic approaches to rhinoplasty which may be adopted by your surgeon depending on the necessity and work required.
1. Internal (endonasal) rhinoplasty - as the term suggests, the incisions are only done on the inside (internal) of the nose, and not on the external facia. This procedure requires more skill and artistry and can only be done when teh amount of surgery is confined to a minimal area or at least those which are "reachable" for the nose interior.
2. External rhinoplasty or open-tip rhinoplasty - in this type of procedure, the surgeon makes incisions on the outside (external) area of the nose specifically at the crease where the nose joins the face in order to avoid visible scarring. Open-tip rhinoplasty is usually done where the procedure involves more extensive removal or manipulation of the skin and cartilage tissue of the nose.
This medical procedure requires the application of local or general anesthesia which is completed between two to four hours depending on the complexity of the operation. With the two methods of incision, the skin and cartilage of the nose can be sculpted in order to achieve the desired result.
Bear in mind that rhinoplasty is more of an art than surgery and the surgeon will often refer to the photograph and plan which is carefully conceptualized prior to the actual procedure. This process requires carefully and skillfully making the right incisions and sculpting the nose in order to make the appropriate symmetry and shape of the nose and achieve the best result. Slight alterations or incisions, even as tiny as a millimeter, can make drastic change on the appearance of the nose after the swelling subsides.
After the sculpting process, the surgeon will check the blood vessels within the region of the nose, the nostril openings, and refer to his pre-surgery plan to check whether the work done conforms with it, before closing up the nose. Small sutures close the incisions made either in internal or external methods. The closing procedure is similar to that done by surgeons after performing heart or cardiovascular surgery especially during closing up small veins and arteries of the heart after said surgery.
Risks and Benefits of Nose Surgery
As with any other surgery, rhinoplasty has the same risks involved such as bleeding, infection, reactions to medications, antibiotics, anesthesia, and other side effects. However, with rhinoplasty, there are some risks which are quite unique to this operation like burst blood vessels which could lead to red spots and small scars appearing on the underside of the nose. Also, another procedure for revision may be called for in order to remove or correct the tissue of the nose. Here are some sites which may provide helpful information about rhinoplasty.
